Gov’t adopts decision on participation in NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria and Romania
Skopje, 6 September 2022 (MIA) – At the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, and following presentation of reports on the need to send members of North Macedonia’s Army to participate in the NATO battlegroups in Bulgaria and Romania, the Government at its session on Tuesday adopted separate decisions on sending army troops in the two countries.   “The task of the NATO battlegroup, as part of NATO enhanced Vigilance Activities – NATO eVA, is to strengthen defense of NATO’s eastern borders in the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Romania,” the Government said.   According to the Government, implementation of the activities strengthens partnership and cooperation between North Macedonia and other allies within NATO, and at the same time affects the expansion of bilateral cooperation between North Macedonia and Bulgaria, Romania, the United States, as well as other allies which will contribute to the battlegroup with staff and equipment.    Photo: MIA archive
