Gov't: 3 percent GDP growth in Q3 a result of careful budgeting and commitment

Skopje, 9 December 2024 (MIA) - For the first time after 7 years of collapse and stagnation of the Macedonian economy, the country finally records a GDP growth of 3 percent in Q3 of 2024. As a Government, we promised a furious start and careful budgeting, and it is being delivered. We are seeing the first results, according to the State Statistical Office - 3 percent GDP growth in Q3 of 2024 (July, August and September), the Government said in a press release on Monday.

According to the Government, the 3 percent GDP growth for the Macedonian economy is among the highest in the region and Europe. Only five EU member states have a higher growth rate in Q3, while in the region, two EU member states have a lower growth rate in Q3, i.e. Greece and Bulgaria, 2.4 percent. Romania is at -0.3 percent, while Slovenia has 1 percent.

"As a Government, we expect GDP growth in Q4 as well, which would bring us closer to 3 percent annually, which is much higher than the projected 1.8 percent by the World Bank. As a Government, we undertake activities and are focused on realizing capital investments, as well as attracting foreign direct investments, in order to move the economy forward and encourage economic development. We promised, and we are committed to transform Macedonia forward," reads the press release.

It adds that the economy is the most important segment of the Government's work.
