Governor Angelovska-Bezhoska to attend WB, IMF Spring Meetings in Washington

Skopje, 12 April 2023 (MIA) - National Bank Governor Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska and Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi are heading a Macedonian delegation taking part in the 2023 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington. 

 

The National Bank's delegation also includes Vice Governor Fadil Bajrami. 

 

The delegation is to meet with top officials of the IMF, WB and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), as well as representatives of other international organizations and institutions. 

 

National Bank Governor Angelovska-Bezhoska and Vice Governor Bajrami will hold separate meetings with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, Director of the European Department at the IMF Alfred Kammer, as well as IMF Executive Director Paul Hilbers. 

 

Talks will focus on the economic situation in the country and monetary policy decisions contributing to gradual stabilization of inflation.

 

The National Bank's delegation will also meet with representatives of the IMF's Statistic Department and the Monetary and Capital Markets Department, for talks on results achieved from the mutual cooperation so far. 

 

As part of the Spring Meetings, Angelovska-Bezhoska will also meet with top officials of the World Bank, including WB Regional Vice President Antonella Bassani and WB Executive Director representing the constituency, Koen Davidse. In addition, the National Bank's delegation will participate in the regular meeting of the constituent countries in the WB, for talks on challenges in terms of the current global finanicial and geopolitical movements.

 

The 2023 Spring Meetings will bring together officials from member states of the IMF and WBG, as well as representatives from international and regional organizations, central bank governors, civil society organizations, private sector officials, financial institutions, banks, parliamentarians, etc. Discussions will focus on the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, the price crisis, consequences of the war in Ukraine and policies in response to such challenges in order to achieve growth, equality and progress.
