Government to discuss municipality projects at today's session

Skopje, 16 October 2024 (MIA) - At today’s session the Government is set to discuss municipality projects, as the process for using funds from the Hungarian loan is formally been completed, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski during a press conference on Wednesday about when will municipalities be able to use these funds for infrastructure projects.

The PM pointed out that by the end of the month competent institutions will sign contracts with municipalities, initiating the implementation of this historic project.

Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikoloski, during a press conference in Veles, said that around 90 percent of the projects municipalities submitted for usage of funds from the Hungarian loan will be voted on and approved at today's Government session.

"I do not want to sound ambitious, but I think it's very likely that most of them, if not all, will be voted on at today's Government session. Over 90 percent of the projects are at the Ministry of Transport. I want to thank the team that worked on the projects and my office staff that fully invested themselves in this work, thus the projects have been approved by the Ministry of Transport, and now the other ministries have to do their part," Nikolovski stressed.

He said he hopes that today afternoon they will be able to announce that the projects have been approved. Municipalities will have around EUR 250 million at disposal for capital infrastructure projects. ssh/ba/
