Government freezes pellet price at EUR 430 per tonne
Skopje, 10 November 2022 (MIA) – The Government has decided to freeze the price of pellets at Mden 27,000 (EUR 431) per tonne following a proposal by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy and the Ministry of Economy.
“The decision on the pellets and heating wood was passed according to analyses and proposals by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy and the public enterprise for the management of national forests. Analyses have shown that the average import price for a tonne of pellets stands at Mden 22,940 (EUR 366),” Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi told a press conference on Thursday.
The frozen price, he added, considers VAT and transport costs, as well as a certain margin for traders.
“The difference is about Mden 4000 (EUR 63) per tonne, which I consider to be a solid amount for traders to cover their expenses,” noted Bekteshi.
A kilogram of pellets is currently sold at Mden 55 (EUR 0.9), which is set to drop to Mden 27 (EUR 0.45) as a result of the Government measure.
