Government election session resumes after break

Government election session resumes after break

Skopje, 23 June 2024 (MIA) - At the request of the coordinator of the parliamentary group of the European Front, Blerim Bexheti, the governemnt election session in the Parliament was suspended until 9:15 pm. Previously it was pointed out that the coordinators of the parliamentary groups have failed to reach an agreement for the vote to be held earlier tonight. The vote for the new composition of the government should take place no later than midnight.

The session was also interrupted on Sunday due to a power outage caused by the afternoon storm in Skopje. As the session resumed after technical issues caused by the storm were overcome, several MPs took part in the debate.

SDSM MP Mitko Trajchuleski reiterated that all reform projects in the interest of the citizens will be backed by the opposition, while the government will be harshly criticized for all other questionable investments.

Current opposition MPs also spoke about the behavior of VMRO-DPMNE MPs while they were in the opposition.

"You have been spinning two theses for the past two days - impossible promises, false promises made by VMRO-DPMNE, so I invite you to say which is the promise that VMRO-DPMNE falsely gave to the citizens and for which it received support. You mention the French proposal, what we have done in that regard, how we have reacted and that is good, but apparently none of you are aware of the reason for those actions. Those reactions were towards not passing the French proposal, not to allow the vote on your part. Your claims are pathetic, because we have precisely reacted in order not to reach this position and this situation," VMRO-DPMNE's Micevski said in response to some of the accusations of the opposition MPs.

For the seven years of SDSM and DUI rule, he added, nothing that was promised has been done for the citizens.

During the debate, MPs from the opposition criticized the choice of candidates for ministers, while VMRO-DPMNE, 'Worth It' and ZNAM Movement MPs defended the policies included in the program of the new government, while critticizing the policies of the previous SDSM government.
