Government delegation to meet senior UNESCO officials in Paris
- A government delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski, Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Muhamet Hoxha, Mayor of Ohrid Kiril Pecakov, and Mayor of Struga Mendi Qyra, begins Monday and Tuesday a working visit to Paris.
Skopje, 9 February 2026 (MIA) - A government delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski, Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Muhamet Hoxha, Mayor of Ohrid Kiril Pecakov, and Mayor of Struga Mendi Qyra, begins Monday and Tuesday a working visit to Paris.
As part of the visit, the delegation will hold meetings with Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO, as well as with other senior UNESCO officials, the government press service said.
During the meetings, the government’s firm commitment to safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of the Ohrid region will be stressed. It will also be noted that the country is implementing a protection system to preserve the integrity and authenticity of the Ohrid region as an exceptional universal value.
The delegation will refer to the government’s actions and note that the responsible institutions are making every effort to implement the recommendations from the 2020 and 2024 reactive monitoring missions as well as the Strategic Recovery Plan.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to meet Monday with Ernesto Ottone, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, and Khondker Mohammad Talha, President of the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference. On Tuesday, they will meet Nasser bin Hamad Al Hinzab, Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board.
