Government, CEB negotiate fresh EUR 50 million for SME support

Skopje, 8 September 2023 (MIA) - The Government is finalizing negotiations to ensure funds from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) that are set to be approved by the year-end, heard a meeting of Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi with CEB Governor Carlo Monticelli and Vice-Governor Tomáš Boček in Paris.

"CEB is one of the leading international financial institutions that supports investments in the public social infrastructure, as well as support to the private sector, primarily small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This new credit line is focused on supporting SMEs and is part of the broad range of projects that the Government is working on with other financial institutions, aimed at supporting their liquidity and green investments in a period of crisis," said Minister Besimi.

The FinMin said the credit line includes EUR 50 million for domestic companies that will be distributed through the Development Bank.

Interlocutors reaffirmed the successful cooperation between North Macedonia and CEB, which has seen the realization of nine projects in the public sector worth EUR 264 million. Support is given to the sectors of healthcare, education, justice, construction of social apartments, SME support and public finance, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.
