Gov't: Financial aid in next 4 months for vulnerable citizens, pensioners
Skopje, 9 October 2022 (MIA) - A total of 42,000 citizens in vulnerable categories will receive 3,000 denars each per month in the next four months, a total of 12,000 denars each in line with the set of anti-crisis measures introduced by the government for tackling of the crisis. Over EUR 8 million is set aside for the recipients of government welfare benefits, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Sunday. Over 91,600 pensioners receiving low pensions will be awarded 1,500 denars each per month - a total of 6,000 denars in four months. "Also, we provided 3,000 denars in direct financial aid for each pensioner who is paid from 11,525 to 14,000 denars, which is over 66,000 denars. The measure targeting our pensioners is estimated at EUR 12,2 million," Kovachevski told a news conference announcing the new set of measures for tackling the economic and energy crisis. Legislation should be amended for parts of the set of measures, while for the rest can be enforced under a decision of the government according to the decree on state of crisis. Starting next month, said the PM, pensioners should expect the latest government support provided that Parliament adopts the necessary legal changes. Both PM Kovachevski and Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi expect the lawmakers to pass the amendments allowing aid to be awarded to pensioners and citizens from the vulnerable groups and the other measures introduced to tackle the energy and price crisis to be implemented.
