Skopje, 28 October 2024 (MIA) - ZELS is not the one causing crises, ZELS overcomes crises, said Association of Local Self-Government Units (ZELS) President and Mayor of Kisela Voda Municipality, Orce Gjorgjievski, after meeting with Karposh Municipality Mayor Stevcho Jakimovski on Monday.

According to ZELS, Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov did not attend the meeting he was invited to.

Gjorgjievski stated that there have always been disagreements between a certain mayor and a minister and added that it is logical when it comes to such disagreements.

"We entered into a direct mediation of the process and I believe we will overcome whatever the differences there may be. ZELS remains united. In the coming period we will continue our intense communication with Strumica as well. Pero Kostadinovski, who is also my vice president and part of SDSM, will make an effort as a colleague and members of the same political party to sit down and discuss with Kostadin Kostadinov, and as Stevche said he will not leave ZELS but is allowing space in the process for these issues to be overcome, the same will happen with Strumica Municipality," Gjorgjievski explained, adding that they will support any mayor no matter the party they are affiliated with.

ZELS said in a press release that in the coming days they will attempt to organize meetings between mayors and representatives of the central government.

ZELS vice president and Kisela Voda Municipality Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski told MTV that issues are being manufactured and that statements made by Strumica and Karposh Mayors about exiting ZELS are political. He pointed out that Kostadinov is refusing communication and peace offerings by the other colleagues, using citizens for his own political gains.ssh/sk/
