Skopje, 18 January 2024 (MIA) - Gjorche Petrov Municipality has denied claims by Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska of depositing waste at an illegal landfill on municipal territory.

Earlier, Mayor Arsovska told a press conference that City of Skopje environmental inspectors and police officers have prevented an ecocide at a lot in Gjorche Petrov municipality, detecting a private illegal landfill where hazardous waste was deposited by 50-100 trucks on a daily basis, with Gjorche Petrov Municipality as its top client.

"Gjorche Petrov Municipality has never illegally deposited waste at the site and has never created illegal landfills. On the contrary, the municipality cleans such waste. Mayor Arsovska can check the Komunalna Higiena point in Karposh municipality, where Gjorche Petrov deposits its bulky waste. We understand the Skopje Mayor's thirst for political quarrelling since she has no projects to show for," Gjorche Petrov Municipality said in a press release.
