Skopje, 29 May 2024 (MIA) – EU Ambassador David Geer said that the interest of the country is to continue on its path towards the European Union and the European Union is ready to work with the new government, and with everyone who is supporting the reform process.

“My message would be both to the government and in fact to the country in general. I believe that the interest of this country is to continue on its path towards the European Union. We in the European Union are ready to work with the new government, with everyone who is supporting the reform process, which is necessary to join the European Union, and we will do all we can to help this country advance on its path towards the EU,” Geer stated.

“It is a task, which will be first of all for government, but not only for government, you will need the support from all of the key actors from across the political divide,” Geer added.

“In other words, enlargement needs to be a national project which brings everyone together working on the reforms, implementing the necessary measures, in order to join the European Union as soon as possible,” Geer stated prior to opening of the event to celebrate two decades of EU membership at Europe House in Skopje on Wednesday evening.
