Tetovo, 5 June 2024 (MIA) — The Prespa Agreement, the Ohrid Framework Agreement, and the Good Neighborly Relations Agreement with Bulgaria have all benefitted the country and it is of enormous importance for the European Union for the state to work on the full implementation of the three agreements, according to EU Ambassador David Geer.
Talking to the press at the opening of Tetovo's Europe house on Wednesday, Ambassador Geer said the Prespa Agreement, which was being so hotly debated at this moment, had brought enormous benefits to North Macedonia.
After the name deal was signed, he said, trade between North Macedonia and Greece doubled, cultural cooperation developed, and communication and cooperation between the two nations and their armies increased.
Also, Geer highlighted, the Prespa Agreement had improved the perception and position of the country at the international level.
There were significant benefits from the Ohrid Framework Agreement and the Friendship Treaty with Bulgaria as well, he said.
He said it was extremely important for the EU to be able to build on the cooperation and the achievements made so far, and urged the state to work on the full implementation of all three agreements, which he said would contribute to speeding up its European integration path and joining the EU faster.
The EU Ambassador also said the EU was looking forward to the formation of a stable government that would take the required steps for the implementation of all reforms required for the country's EU membership. mr/
