Gashi: No Government with parties not supporting Euro-Atlantic course, goodneighborliness policies
Skopje, 11 November 2021 (MIA) – Alternativa will never be part of a government that fails to clearly support the Euro-Atlantic course and goodneighborliness policies, says leader Afrim Gashi. He told TV21 they will also not join a Government that does not solve the Bulgaria dispute. “We have talked within the party only about the no-confidence vote, which failed today. We will have to talk within the party about Alternativa’s participation in a government, but I have to say that we won’t join a government that does not have a clear EU and NATO objective and goodneighborliness policies. The most important thing for us is that the country moves forward. It is important to have a stable government. We don’t want snap elections because this is not fair to the people. We want to see strong guarantees from the international community that Macedonia is close to getting a date for accession negotiations. We expect the Bulgaria dispute to be resolved after the elections there. We sincerely expect a date for the start of EU accession negotiations. This requires a stable government,” says Gashi. He adds that Alternativa has no remarks to SDSM’s efforts. “This Government carried the country in NATO and has large EU aspirations. They are credited with both achievements,” notes Gashi. According to him, the country has now entered a deep crisis and Alternativa will act responsibly when important processes are brought into question. He reiterates that the party does not favor a snap vote, “because people are tired of elections every year.”
