Skopje, 23 October 2024 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi has sent a greeting congratulating the citizens on the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle – October 23. 

“The formation of the Macedonian revolutionary organization in 1893 had laid the foundation of an organized fight for freedom and independence. The continuing unrelenting struggle over the decades resulted in forming a state in which current generations get to experience the fruits of independence and democracy,” says Gashi.

The current generation in our country, he adds, is facing different temptations trying to meet other goals.

“Our strategic goal now is full-fledged EU membership while strengthening our role in NATO as an equal member state. The challenge our generation is facing is to constantly improve democratic processes, standards in healthcare, education and in science, rule of law, economic and social trends and equality regardless of the citizens’ national, religious, political affiliation or gender,” Gashi notes. 

Important dates in the history of our people is our reminder that we should act together in building a modern and prosperous country, Gashi says in the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle greeting.
