Skopje, 2 July 2024 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi met Tuesday with Czech Republic Ambassador Jaroslav Ludva and discussed about country’s EU integration process as well as ways to strengthen the traditionally good bilateral cooperation.
According to Parliament’s press release, Gashi expressed satisfaction with the continuous support and friendship between the two countries, highlighting that the Czech Republic is among the countries that encourage the EU to keep the door open for enlargement and the integration of Western Balkan countries.
The discussion covered the opportunities for overcoming the challenges at the start of our country's EU membership negotiations, with Ambassador Ludva stressing that integrating countries from this region is especially significant for the Czech Republic.
Gashi and Ludva agreed that the relations between North Macedonia and the Czech Republic are very good, as evidenced by the numerous bilateral meetings in the past period, and that this should continue to be the practice in the future.
In this context, Speaker Gashi pointed out that the Czech Republic is very active in economic cooperation with North Macedonia. He informed the Ambassador that the Parliament is currently forming delegations and parliamentary groups for cooperation, suggesting that through the Parliamentary Group for Cooperation with the Czech Parliament, a more extensive debate can be started on deepening bilateral cooperation in various areas and on improving the country’s capacity to attract more foreign investments.
