Paris, 22 October 2023 (dpa/MIA) - The Palace of Versailles was evacuated again on Sunday because of an anonymous bomb threat, the tourist attraction near Paris said as security personnel searched the premises.

This is the seventh closure of the château in eight days because of threat alerts. Although a suspect was arrested, the bomb threats continued, all of which ultimately proved to be hoaxes.

In recent days, similar threats also affected hundreds of schools in France, as well as regional airports. According to the authorities, young people are behind many of the false alerts.

The incidents have increased since the deadly attack by a young Islamist on a teacher in northern city of Arras a week ago, sending shock waves through France. The highest terror alert level was imposed in the country following the killing.
