Forensic analysis of judge's phone points out to another possible crime

Skopje, 26 July 2024 (MIA) – The Public Prosecutor’s Office said Friday that as part of a case against a Supreme Court judge, a forensic analysis of his phone resulted in findings suggesting a crime might have been committed for which the premises of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors were searched yesterday.

“As part of a case against a Supreme Court judge, a public prosecutor for organized crime and corruption during a forensic analysis of the suspect’s phone came across findings suggesting a possible crime might have been committed. In order to investigate further, the prosecutor formed a case sending a request to a Skopje judge to seize two mobile phones from a person working at the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors as well as a video footage and two records for a former and a current candidate of the Academy,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.

On Thursday, police officers from the crime fighting department seized the items following a judge’s order.

The Interior Ministry said yesterday that electronic data from computers, mobile phones and records from elected judges and prosecutors were seized during a police search.

Supreme Court judge Nakje Georgiev was arrested in May after receiving a bribe. He was put in detention after being stripped of his immunity by the Judicial Council.
