Foreign Ministry’s position on joint statement by Lithuania in the UN Human Rights Council

Foreign Ministry’s position on joint statement by Lithuania in the UN Human Rights Council

Skopje, 3 July 2024 (MIA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade reiterates its position in sharing EU’s concern, calling on Georgia to revoke the “transparency of foreign influence” law.

"Regarding the media reports on the joint statement in the UN Human Rights Council, initiated by Lithuania, which urges Georgia to revoke the “transparency of foreign influence” law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade once again reiterates the position which was communicated in response to a journalist’s question yesterday, stating that North Macedonia shares the EU’s concern regarding the mentioned law, which is indeed our principled position for other similar laws in other countries," as stated in the press release of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Accordingly, it added, we also support the joint statement by Lithuania made on behalf of a group of countries, which we have joined and which is published on the official page of the Human Rights Council, as is customary practice.
