Foreign Ministry opens archive exhibit in honor of 30th independence anniversary
Skopje, 7 September 2021 (MIA) – In honor of the country’s 30th independence anniversary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened on Tuesday its first archive exhibit titled “30 Years of Independence – Foreign Policy Retrospective”. Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani told the opening that the exhibit aims to present an in-depth image of North Macedonia’s foreign policy since the declaration of independence and announced plans for opening a museum showcasing archived documents of crucial importance for the country. “As you can see, we’re releasing interesting documents, notes and photographs showing the onset of diplomatic activity, development of foreign relations and the country’s achievements. In order to promote transparency and values, the exhibit launches a new concept of showcasing archived diplomatic documents, notes and other important papers,” he said. The Minister underlined that the exhibit proves that since its independence, North Macedonia has explicitly and undeniably oriented itself towards European and Euro-Atlantic values. Moreover, he added, it managed to prove its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and building a multiethnic and multicultural society, thus positioning itself on the international stage and demonstrating how a small country can establish bilateral relations with a number of countries from different region and become an important partner of the international community. “In that regard, we must mention the three pillars of our success that symbolize our commitment to peaceful dispute resolution – the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the Friendship Treaty with Bulgaria and the Prespa Agreement with Greece. NATO accession crowned our strategic priorities. Hopefully, we’ll be able to soon say the same for our EU membership aspirations,” Osmani stressed.
