Foreign Ministry: Crisis HQ set up to monitor Middle East escalation

Skopje, 28 February 2026 (MIA) – Following rapid escalation in the Middle East, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says crisis headquarters has been set up to monitor the situation being available 24/7 to provide assistance and support to affected Macedonian nationals.

The Foreign Ministry urges all Macedonian nationals currently in the affected regions to closely follow official notifications by the competent authorities and to abide by the security protocols. It also advises against non-essential trips to the countries in the region until security is stabilized.

“With all its capacities and through the diplomatic offices, the Ministry is fully at the disposal of the Macedonian citizens and will continue to inform the public timely,” says the Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said eleven Macedonian nationals so far have asked to be evacuated from Israel, says

“According to latest information, the airspace remains closed at least until Monday. After it reopens, ways and models for organizing a possible evacuation will be discussed according to the circumstances and the security situation. At this stage, our nationals are advised to closely follow official notifications from Israeli authorities, to act according to security protocols and to remain sheltered when ordered,” it said.
