Skopje, 22 December 2024 (MIA) - At an extraordinary assembly on Sunday, the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) elected Masar Omeragikj as its new president.
Omeragikj was the only candidate for the post. He is a businessman and former football player who played for FK Vardar and FK Sloga Jugomagnat among others.
“I am one of you and I know what direction we should take to develop Macedonian football. Just as in football, achieving our goals will require teamwork, a lot of running and a lot of sweat. We will begin work as early as tomorrow. I have a few key points that I will implement during my term, above all restoring the football legends within the structures of Macedonian football,” Omeragikj said, while also pledging zero tolerance for corruption in football.
UEFA and FIFA congratulated Omeragikj on his election, expressing wishes for success of the country’s club football and international football in the years to come.
Omeragikj’s election comes after his predecessor, Muamed Sejdini, resigned from the post in mid-November, four months ahead of the expiration of his term.
Omeragikj is the Federation’s seventh president.
