Skopje, 14 May 2022 (MIA) – The European perspectives of Skopje and Kyiv, in particular relating to the implications of the Ukraine war for security and stability on the European continent and beyond, were the focus of Saturday’s talks between Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba on the sidelines of informal meeting NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Berlin.
"Europe and the world face unprecedented foreign policy and security challenges from a geopolitical point of view and the simplest way to demonstrate the strategic leadership of the European Union and its credibility is by executing the decision for opening EU accession negotiations with North Macedonia," Osmani said.
The talks also tackled the current situation in Ukraine, with Minister Osmani strongly condemning Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, especially the brutal killings of civilians, emphasizing that North Macedonia, as a NATO member and a credible candidate for membership in the EU, has taken a series of steps and measures in response to Russian military action, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
