FM Osmani meets Greek Deputy FM Papadopoulou

Skopje, 13 June 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani met Thursday with Greece's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexandra Papadopoulou, on the sidelines of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) ministerial meeting in Skopje, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Interlocutors discussed North Macedonia's European perspective and the need for further support from Greece.

"North Macedonia and Greece, as partners and allies, should play a key role in ensuring regional security. SEECP as an initiative is a good platform for dialogue, and solving and resolving open issues," Osmani said.

He added that Greece is a valuable and strong supporter of North Macedonia's European integration process, as well as a trusted and important NATO ally.

"We expect the support over EU, and cooperation in NATO to continue to improve and strengthen in the coming period. The region's European integration is of huge strategic importance, and a shared interest for regional and overall security in Europe," Osmani said as cited in the press release.

Interlocutors also expressed satisfaction with the newly developed dynamic of relations between the two neighboring countries, especially in the past seven years since the signing of the Prespa Agreement, highlighting the need for both sides to respect and fully implement the agreement. ssh/nn/
