Skopje, 25 September 2023 (MIA) - The Macedonian nationals who were staying in a hotel near the monastery in the village of Banjska in the north of Kosovo, where an armed attack took place on Sunday, have safely headed home Monday morning, accompanied by the Kosovo police.
Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani posted on Facebook that they are headed home after the Kosovo police had carried out a routine interview and analysis procedure.
"After a routine interview and analysis procedure carried out by the police of the Republic of Kosovo, our citizens safely headed home this morning, accompanied by the Kosovo police. The circumstances in which they found themselves were complex, given that they were staying in a hotel in the immediate area where the armed attack on the police took place," Osmani posted.
The Foreign Minister notes that the Kosovo police were immediately notified on Sunday "about this situation through the regular channels", adding that he had also spoken with his counterpart Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz.
"The Kosovo services guaranteed the safety of our citizens throughout the whole process, and our Embassy in Pristina was in constant contact with them," FM Osmani's Facebook post adds.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday it received information early in the day via its 24/7 line that seven citizens of North Macedonia, including a child, were staying in a hotel near the monastery in the village of Banjska, where an armed attack on the Kosovo police forces had been carried out.
