Skopje, 10 December 2021 (MIA) – Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska met Friday with four of the five officers of the Army of North Macedonia, who will serve in the NATO command structures over the next four years. Alongside another officer who is already in Izmir, Turkey, they will be the first team representing the country in the Alliance command structures. Minister Shekerinska said calls for additional seven NATO positions are also underway, with all 20 posts in the command structures to be filled by 2023. “The allies know they get not only a serious and credible ally that delivers on its promises, knows how to do things and possesses the required capacity and knowledge,” said Shekerinska, adding that the officers would confirm this through their work. Lieutenant-Colonel Goran Stojanovski said on behalf of the officers it is a great honor but also responsibility to be selected for the NATO posts. “I am certain we will do our best to justify the trust invested in us while representing the Army and the country. The work in a multinational military environment will be an added challenge, which will be an opportunity to show our qualities and capacities. We will also have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and experiences that we will transfer to our colleagues here, thus contributing to a better army,” said Stojanovski.
