First Deputy PM Mexhiti to attend 22nd Energy Community Ministerial Council Meeting in Vienna

Skopje, 12 December 2024 (MIA) - First Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti will address the 22nd Energy Community Ministerial Council Meeting in Vienna on Thursday. 

"The annual meeting, which Mexhiti is attending alongside the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska, will be discussing topics related to future introduction of additional legislative obligations in the areas of water management, habitats and wild birds (the 2009 amendments to the EU directive), as well as the upgrading of the Decarbonization Roadmap," the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release. 

The Energy Community is an international organization that facilitates energy cooperation between the EU and nine contracting parties: North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine, and has three permanent observers: Armenia, Norway and Turkey.

"Its main objective is to bring the contracting parties closer to the EU by facilitating reforms and gradually extending EU energy, environment and climate acquis," reads the press release.
