Fire near border with Greece put under control
Gevgelija, 3 August 2021 (MIA) – A wildfire that broke out Tuesday afternoon near the Bogorodica border crossing with Greece has been localized and is under control after the fire brigade from the border town of Gevgelija with the help of military helicopters managed to put out the flames.
Power was cut at the premises of the Bogorodica border crossing and the crossing itself is temporarily closed for traffic so as to ensure that the passengers are safe and that firefighters can extinguish the blazes after they spread very close to the army border post, the local casino and a gas station.
Traffic will return to normal as soon as EVN teams establish that it is safe to turn the power on at the border crossing.
Vehicles are being redirected to the nearby Dojran border crossing due to the firefighting efforts.
