Beijing, 16 September 2022 (dpa/MIA) - A building that stands more than 200 meters high in the Chinese city Changsha was engulfed by a major fire and severely damaged. Authorities gave no information on Friday about possible casualties in the 42-storey building. Flames erupted from the high-rise as dark clouds of smoke rose into the sky. The fire was extinguished by the afternoon according to officials. The cause is currently unknown. Completed in 200, the Changsha Telecom building is a landmark of the capital of southern Hunan province. Although the operator China Telecom said telecommunications services had not been disrupted, many cell phone users complained of interruptions.
