Skopje, 21 January 2026 (MIA) – SDSM leader Venko Filipche on Wednesday accused the VMRO-DPMNE government of having no solution to the issues facing the citizens and of diverting the public’s attention.

“This isn’t politics, it’s making distraction. Distraction from the disastrous situation the country is in, which is the main goal of the VMRO-ZNAM ‘tender’ coalition. As criminal tenders are being carried out behind the people’s back, made-up scandals are promoted and smear campaigns against the opposition,” Filipche told a news conference. 

SDSM warned the state is out of money back in December, he stated, and the government confirmed it with another loan in one billion euros through Eurobond. 

“Now, a gap of 2 billion euros has to be filled. British media have reported that 6 billion euros in loans to fill in the gap in the budget is part of the agreement. 10,000 ‘economic workers” are being imported under our noses. The citizens are served lies. This is how this government operates,” the opposition leader said accusing the government of taking no measures to improve the living standards. 

SDSM, Filipche vowed, will continue to fight against crime and corruption and against attempts to isolate the country.
