Skopje, 16 August 2024 (MIA) - In a political sense, the narrative of interethnic conflict and destabilization benefits VMRO-DPMNE and DUI, as well as ZNAM who are completely marginalized in the Government and have a chance to revive their nationalist narrative, SDSM leader Venko Filipche told Fokus in an interview.
In the interview the SDSM leader said the strategy to raise interethnic tensions “which was carried out by VMRO-DPMNE and DUI before the elections is being reactivated”.
“If we consider the fact that DUI gave its support to VMRO-DPMNE for the law on the reorganization of the ministries, without which it wouldn’t have been able to form a Government, then I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing is an agreed strategy between the two parties. Even if it isn’t, it is in the interest of both sides,” Filipche told Fokus.
According to the opposition leader, such scenarios would harm the development of the economy and create fear and confusion among the citizens.
“Unfortunately, such scenarios only bring a standstill in the development of the country, the economy, lots of confusion and fear among the citizens. We haven’t seen anything good from the endless interethnic topics, except for heightened tensions and regression of the country. But it is good that as opposed to VMRO-DPMNE's previous rule, now the citizens and the public recognize the same tactics much earlier, making their effect weaker,” Filipche said.
