FEZ presents new high-tech economic development zone – Skopje 3
Skopje, 14 June 2022 (MIA) – The Free Zones Authority (FEZ) presented on Tuesday the new economic development zone – Skopje 3. FEZ director Jovan Despotovski told today’s press conference that the new technological industrial development zone will have a concept of work fully focused on high technology. “The goal, and the study showed this, is to generate investments over EUR 850 million in the next ten years. The goal is of course to bring companies or develop companies that will focus exclusively on high technology, and certainly the goal is not only to generate high income for the people who will be engaged there, and we are talking about somewhere between 4,5 to 5,5 thousand young people who are expected to be engaged in these capacities, but also to generate income for all our fellow citizens through salaries in the budget,” Despotovski pointed out. He added that the purpose of the new technological industrial zone is to have, on an area approximately 45 hectares near the capital, smart use of resources available to the state, i.e. young people and intellectual capacity, which he stressed are indisputable. “Our goal, which we have set since the beginning of this mandate, is to have the benefits of the technological industrial development zones not only available to foreign companies, to the employees of those companies, but also available to a wide circle of citizens of our country,” Despotovski said. This concept today, Despotovski underlined, opens a new chapter, i.e. a new story in the economic development of the country, which is an exclusive focus on the high-tech zone.
