Exports and imports drop in first two months of 2024 

Skopje, 6 April 2024 (MIA) - The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the January-February 2024 period amounted to EUR 1.207,9 million and represents a 9.9 percent decrease compared to the same period last year, said the State Statistical Office in a press release.  

The trade deficit in the period January-February 2024 was EUR 1.744,7 million, which is 1.1 percent less compared to the first two months of 2023. Import coverage in the period January-February 2024 was 69.2 percent.

The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and other supported catalysts.  In the imports, the most significant products are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and the electricity.

In the period January-February 2024, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria.
