Explanatory screening on Cluster 5 - Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion kicks off in Brussels

Skopje, 17 July 2023 (MIA) – A delegation from North Macedonia, alongside a delegation from the Republic of Albania, is set to take part in the explanatory screening meetings on Cluster 5 – Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion from July 17 through to July 20 in Brussels.

In a press release, the Secretariat for European Affairs said Cluster 5 is a very significant and extensive cluster which regulates five chapters related to the country’s economic development, such as: agriculture and rural development, food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy, fisheries, regional policy and coordination of structural instruments, and financial and budgetary provisions.

“During the four days of the explanatory screening on Cluster 5, experts from the European Commission will present to the delegations of North Macedonia and Albania the new directives and regulations of the EU acquis, adopted after 2018, while our delegation is expected to indicate the timeframe in which it expects the country to adopt and implement the new legislation,” said the press release.

North Macedonia has thus far completed the bilateral and explanatory screening on four clusters, or a total of 26 chapters and three areas. The bilateral screening meetings on the last two clusters (Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion and External Relations), i.e., the remaining seven chapters, remains to be completed by November 2023, said the Secretariat.
