Evzoni border crossing closed due to protests from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time

Athens, 17 December 2025 (MIA) – Protesting Greek farmers block all traffic at the Evzoni (Bogorodica) border crossing with North Macedonia yet again on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time, MIA's Athens correspondent reports.

According to Greek news agency ANA-MPA, the Niki (Medzitlija) border crossing will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., where the farmers will only block freight transport.

Farmers also remain at blockades set up at the Kipi border crossing between Greece and Türkiye, where traffic is closed for trucks, while at the Promachonas border crossing with Bulgaria, the farmers also block freight transport only.

The farmers’ protests began on November 30 due to increased production costs and low selling prices for their products, as well as a scandal involving European agricultural subsidies. Their main demand is the payment of overdue subsidies.

Blockades have been set up on a number of motorways and local roads throughout Greece, making traffic more difficult and redirecting it to secondary streets.
