Everyone deserves a chance, Mickoski says on proposed deputy ministers

Skopje, 20 July 2024 (MIA) — Everyone deserves a chance but if they fritter away their chance, they will be replaced immediately, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said in a comment on recently nominated deputy ministers whom Parliament is set to elect at an upcoming plenary session.

"We have a coalition agreement and I believe in the coalition partners, who we have a principled, solid coalition agreement with," PM Mickoski said.

"I believe in their personnel solutions and every personnel solution deserves a chance. The personnel solution who fritters away their chance will be replaced immediately. We will not wait around for years," Mickoski told reporters in Trubarevo.

In response to a reporter's remark that some proposed deputy ministers did not have the required education for their posts, Mickoski recalled that former officials appointed by DUI had not been adequately educated, either.

"Go back 20 years and see the education of many personnel that came from DUI," Mickoski said, adding that he did not want to "disintegrate or devalue anyone until we see their performance on the job."

On Wednesday, the government said that the Worth It coalition would fill nine deputy ministerial posts, including those of defense, internal affairs, relations between communities, agriculture, education, local self-government, sports, transport and culture.

The remaining ten deputy ministerial posts will be filled by members of VMRO-DPMNE and ZNAM. mr/
