European experiences for Skopje 2028; the capital to host meetings, workshops and exhibition
- Representatives of the local authorities of Germany’s Chemnitz, Italy’s Gorizia and Slovenia’s Nova Gorica will be visiting Skopje Wednesday, where a series of activities will take place, organized together with the City of Skopje, in relation to the title Skopje is holding as the “European Capital of Culture 2028.”
Skopje, 16 April 2026 (MIA) – Representatives of the local authorities of Germany’s Chemnitz, Italy’s Gorizia and Slovenia’s Nova Gorica will be visiting Skopje Wednesday, where a series of activities will take place, organized together with the City of Skopje, in relation to the title Skopje is holding as the “European Capital of Culture 2028.”
The program starts with a high-level meeting at the City of Skopje in which the mayors and delegations will discuss ways and challenges of organizing this important European cultural event.
A symbolic sightseeing of the central city area, from Goce Delchev bridge to Europe House, in Skopje will take place after the meeting.
Official opening of the working session will be held at Europe House with welcoming speeches by Ben Nupnau, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation, Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski as well as the mayors of Nova Gorica and Gorizia, Samo Turel and Rodolfo Ziberna respectively. The representative of Chemnitz – European Capital of Culture, Josephine Hage, will also address the event.
The opening will feature a technical workshop in which the representatives of the European Capital of Culture 2025 will share their experiences and good practices with the Skopje 2028 team.
The visit will be concluded with the opening of the exhibition “Inspiration” at the Museum of City of Skopje, which showcases photos from the European Capitals of Culture in 2025. Admission for the show, running through April 15-26, will be free.
