European Commission pledges another €25 million in aid for Gaza

Brussels, 6 November 2023 (dpa/MIA) - Brussels is to provide another €25 million ($26.9 million) in humanitarian aid for Gaza, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Monday.

This raises support for civilians in Gaza from the European Union to €100 million in total, she said.

The EU is working with Israel, Egypt and the United Nations to improve the entry of humanitarian convoys to Gaza and to set up a possible maritime corridor from Cyprus to Gaza, von der Leyen said.

"We will keep pushing for our aid to reach civilians in need," she stressed, addressing a conference of EU ambassadors in Brussels.

"This can make the difference between life and death for thousands of Palestinians, and we will continue our efforts to help evacuate EU citizens and injured Palestinians."
