Skopje, 13 November 2023 (MIA) - As of Monday, European Alliance for Change MPs from the Democratic Movement, BESA and Alternativa will operate as one parliamentary group, with MP Safije Sadiki-Shaini chosen as whip.

The group is made up of 6 MPs, and according to Alternativa leader Afrim Gashi they are open to anyone who wants to join.

"After formalizing the coalition, our alliance decided today to unite MPs into one parliamentary group. In the spirit of the decision of our party bodies, today we informed the Parliament Speaker that from now on, we will have a joint parliamentary group," Gashi told a press conference.

The European Alliance for Change aims to use all opportunities the Parliament offers to parliamentary groups.

"Even though the parliamentary mandate is nearing its end, we believe there are a lot of open issues and processes regarding the country's European future, and the Alliance is seriously interested in helping," Gashi added.

He called on Parliament Speaker Xhaferi to not delay the election of a new member of the State Election Commission from the order of the opposition, because that makes him an accomplice in breaking the law.

MP Merita Kodzadziku will act as deputy whip of the parliamentary group. ssh/ik/
