European Affairs Minister Murtezani meets UN Resident Coordinator Columbia

Skopje, 14 November 2024 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs, Orhan Murtezani, met Thursday with the UN Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rita Columbia, during which they reaffirmed the longstanding cooperation of over two decades between North Macedonia and UN agencies in the country.

Murtezani expressed appreciation for the partnership that aids North Macedonia’s path to EU integration and inclusive development, highlighting that UN initiatives are closely aligned with North Macedonia's reform objectives.

“Minister Murtezani also underscored the role of UN agencies, especially UNOPS and UNDP, in tackling major challenges and advancing key projects funded by international partners. He noted that their involvement in government–led working groups has enhanced donor coordination, ensuring resources are used effectively to support North Macedonia’s EU integration priorities,” reads the press release.

Murtezani and Columbia also addressed the UN's strategic priorities in North Macedonia, as outlined in the 2021-2025 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. These priorities include sustainable and inclusive economic and social development, climate change, the management of natural resources and disaster risks, as well as transparent and accountable democratic governance.
