EU to co-finance slaughterhouse waste disposal system
- North Macedonia will receive a grant of four million euros from the EU to co-finance building a system for the safe disposal of slaughterhouse wastes.
Skopje, 2 December 2022 (MIA) — North Macedonia will receive a grant of four million euros from the EU to co-finance building a system for the safe disposal of slaughterhouse wastes.
The remaining 4.5 million euros for building the slaughterhouse waste disposal system will come from the World Bank’s EUR 46 million loan for the country's Agriculture Modernization Project.
Building the system will protect the environment and reduce the consequences of dumping this waste in landfills, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.
Minister of Finance Fatmir Besimi and the World Bank’s Country Director for the Western Balkans Xiaoqing Yu signed the EU grant agreement Friday in the presence of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski, the World Bank’s Country Manager for Kosovo and for North Macedonia Massimiliano Paolucci, and EU Ambassador David Geer, the release says.
North Macedonia's Agriculture Modernization Project aims to improve competitiveness in targeted agricultural sub-sectors and strengthen agricultural public sector readiness for EU accession. mr/
