EU delegation visits Skopje – 2028 European Capital of Culture 

Skopje, 2 October 2023 (MIA) – The City of Skopje is hosting a delegation of the European Union, which is paying a several-day visit to Skopje that was named European Capital of Culture for 2028.

Skopje mayor Danela Arsovska presented to the delegation the vision and the programme that sparked interest in the European Union, and brought Skopje the prestigious title, which will be beneficial for all citizens, essentially for the opportunities for cooperation between the cities in the region for the development of culture, local economic development, tourism and the arts, Mayor’s press office said in a press release on Monday.

“Francesco Caleprico, Head of the EU Coordination Division, underscored that designating Skopje as the European Capital of Culture 2028 is a great accomplishment, the success of the team that worked on this project is great and the title is a valorization of their work,” reads the press release.

Delegation from Brussels including Giuliano Ena, Head of European External Action Service (EEAS) Sector and Council of the European Union representatives in the coming days, will visit several cultural and historical landmarks in Skopje and to get acquainted with its rich cultural heritage and institutions in the field of culture.
