Brussels, 24 February 2024 (MIA) - EU buildings in Brussels lit up in the colours of the Ukrainian flag on Friday, on the occasion of the second anniversary since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine.
"The EU reaffirms unwavering support to Ukraine with whatever it takes to win this war of aggression and regain peace," the European External Action Service (EEAS) posted on X.
High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said the EU has been at the side of the Ukrainian people "since that tragic morning that changed the history of Europe, but will not change its geography again by force".
Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the biggest military offensive in Europe since World War II, estimated to have caused tens of thousands of civilian casualties and hundreds of thousands of military casualties, roughly 3.6 million internally displaced persons and 6.3 million Ukrainian refugees worldwide.
