Ethnic topics usually raised by politicians who lack ideas, Mickoski says

Pristina, 18 November 2024 (MIA) - Ethnic topics are usually raised by politicians who lack real ideas that would provide solutions to the real needs of the citizens. They don’t know how to attract attention and are trying to energize the public through political exhibitionism, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said at a joint press conference Monday with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

The Prime Minister said the Government is in Kosovo to talk about issues such as transportation, economy, education, etc.

“This is what brings us together and what will give added value to the quality of the lives of our compatriots in the future. The speeches made by the members of both governments were very encouraging. Accurate, precise with clear set goals and I expect us to continue to function like that in the future as well,” Mickoski said.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Kurti, said he doesn’t believe that ethnic differences cause conflict, but that there can be political centers who want to use the ethnic differences.

“I don’t believe that the ethnic differences are causing a conflict. There can be political centers, who use the ethnic differences in their quest for power, hegemony, domination, repression, but the ethnic differences by themselves don’t cause conflict. We have them everywhere in the Balkans, and I don’t believe that in the Balkans there are such aspects that could make ethnic differences grow into a conflict, there may be desires but I don’t believe there are established concepts as was the case during the past century when they were exploited, especially by official Belgrade, to incite bloody wars in the region,” Kurti said.

Mickoski and Kurti headed their governments at a joint session in Pristina on Monday, which was followed by the signing of memoranda of cooperation between the two countries.
