ESM to optimize REK Bitola production with Czech-made equipment

Skopje, 25 March 2024 (MIA) – Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi, Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela, and the management of the Mining and Energy Complex (REK) Bitola inspected Monday the new Czech-made equipment for coal homogenization at REK Bitola, said the Economy Ministry in a press release.

The equipment was procured from Czech manufacturer Enelex, and it will optimize the work of REK Bitola, both in terms of the amount of coal mined and the production of electricity, said the Ministry.

Minister Bekteshi stressed the significance of the investment for REK Bitola.

“The new system will contribute to complete exploitation of the available resources in the electricity production process,”  he stressed.

In a press release, Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) said the procurement of the equipment began in 2023 and the new system has been in use for several months. ESM Director General Vasko Stefanov stressed the importance of the investment aimed at full exploitation of resources.

The work of the new system was also inspected by the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, Jozef Sikela.

“I am glad I am here today, in REK Bitola to inspect the equipment manufactured by our Czech company Enelex. I have to underline that our two countries have good relations not only in trade and economy, but also in security and geopolitical issues. The visits of Skopje and Prague by various state officials confirm this. I hope that we will intensify our cooperation and begin a new, even more dynamic chapter in the relations between the two country,” the Czech Minister said.
