Skopje, 22 June 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Deputy PM for Economic Affairs, Fatmir Bytyqi, confirmed on Thursday that the Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) was prepared to take part in the EVN Home tender bid, which will set the electricity price that users will pay in the next six months, starting July 1.
"ESM is prepared, and has been prepared for all of 2023 during the heating season, as well as 2022, for the EVN Home tender bid, but you will have to ask ESM about the price they will offer," said Kovachevski in response to a reporter's question during Thursday's visit to the AD Evropa factory in Skopje.
Deputy PM Bytyqi noted that the price ESM will offer at the tender bid is defined at a closed session of the Government, and because of that, they cannot share it with the public.
"There is a reason why the price is being defined at a closed session. The EVN tender procedure ends in two days, and we will all know the price that ESM will offer," Bytyqi said.
As regards reinstating off-peak electricity hours, Bytyqi said that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will decide on that.
"The Government still remains firm in the position that off-peak electricity hours should be reinstated. The ERC should say when that would be possible," the Deputy PM added. ssh/nn/
