Washington, 28 February 2023 (MIA) - The United States wants peaceful and productive relations between Sofia and Skopje, giving its firm support to North Macedonia's swift EU accession, Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, told MIA.

Escobar says the U.S. will support everything that would result in North Macedonia's swift and peaceful EU integration.

"We are continuing to work with the Government of North Macedonia to help them realize their goals. They are an exceptional NATO ally and I can assure the EU they will act in the same way as Union member. A productive, reliable and solid EU member," says Escobar.

According to him, both North Macedonia and Bulgaria are valued partners of the US, urging them to foster peaceful and productive relations.
