Skopje, 24 August 2023 (MIA) - Minister for Environment and Physical Planning Kaja Shukova addressed a plenary session titled "Solutions for a Healthy Planet: Integrated Responses to Global Environmental Degradation" at the Seventh Assembly of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), held from August 22-26 in Vancouver, Canada.
The session was dedicated to the importance of an integrated approach in understanding and reducing the degradation of the global environment for its sustainability and restoring Earth's health, as a necessary condition and base for creating sustainable and resilient societies. During the session, speakers discussed their experiences in implementing such responses, identifying successes, failures and trade-offs, and highlighting future directions and approaches the GEF might take and support as it continues to evolve its own programming and investment strategies, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release.
Minister Shukovska referred to national experiences and emphasized the need for uniting environmental policies and climate action by the intersection of international and European mechanisms.
According to Shukova, this is the only way to establish an inclusive and united approach that will facilitate and implement the legally binding international agreements and the European Green Deal, as national and global priorities for the environment. ssh/ad/
