Skopje, 9 October 2022 (MIA) - Inflation is almost the same throughout Europe as a result of the price of basic cereals rising over 70 percent in 12 months, which is the main material for bread production. The price of fuel has also risen, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Sunday. The government, he added, at the beginning started freezing prices, but there could be lack of food if prices were to be frozen below production costs. The government, Kovachevski stated, has decided to introduce targeted measures to subsidy industries producing basic food products to help them with energy and electricity provided that the price of their products was dropped or remained the same. "I hope in the next couple of weeks we will come to a solution that is acceptable for manufactures allowing energy subsidies, whereas they will have to drop or not increase the price of basic food products," the PM said announcing the measures in support of the citizens and companies to tackle the economic and energy crisis, passed at Sunday's government session.
