Electricity price slightly up as of July 1: ERC

Skopje, 27 June 2024 (MIA) - As of July 1, electricity price for households in the first block remains unchanged, consumers within the second block will see a 0.85-percent increase, the price in the third block will go up by 1.92 percent, the price in the fourth block will rise by 1.88 percent, whereas the low daytime rate will increase by 0.65 percent, said the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on Thursday.

ERC chair Marko Bislimoski told a press conference that 88 percent of households within the first and second blocks will see their bills increase by 0.4 percent on average.

"This decision means there are no real changes, with an increase below 0.5 percent for a vast majority of household consumers," said Bislimoski.

According to him, creative solutions should be sought in the citizens' interest, including purchase of electricity from domestic capacities using renewable energy sources.

"Competition is a necessity and we have to use the momentum when the electricity price at stock markets is favorable," said Bislimoski.
